ECC Assisted Living Facilities in Florida
In Florida, all standard ALFs must be licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). In addition to the standard license, AHCA offers several specialty licenses, including the Extended Congregate Care (ECC) License.
An ECC license allows an assisted living facility to provide a higher level of care than a standard ALF. This includes:
• Additional nursing services
• Total assistance with personal care
• Enhanced medication management
• Support for tube feeding, catheter care, and oxygen therapy
These services make ECC-licensed facilities ideal for residents with more complex medical needs who still wish to live in a supportive, community-based environment.
To be eligible for an ECC license, a facility must:
• Hold a standard license for at least two years
• Have no administrative sanctions within the past two years (or since opening, if licensed for less than two years)
However, new facilities may apply for an ECC license during their initial licensure process.
